Firm Culture

Rosen & Winig, P.A.

The partners at our firm have worked hard — for decades — to evolve into the lawyers we are today. Eric Rosen spent almost 10 years working for what has become one the largest law firms in the world. Steven Winig worked for a national law firm as well. We have worked for smaller law firms, and we have both worked as sole practitioners. We are very cognizant of the reality of the legal and business world in which both our firm and its clients exist. While we advocate zealously on behalf of our clients, we are also pragmatic and result-oriented. It is this combination that causes us to be effective.

We understand the circumstances that have caused clients to seek our counsel, because we have been there ourselves. We know what it means is to be a landlord, tenant, buyer, seller, borrower, lender, plaintiff and defendant. We know what it means to be responsible for children and for parents. We understand the concerns people have regarding their finances, their employment or their businesses. We know how it feels to be scared and to need help from a professional. We also know how it feels when the professional is not the right professional for the particular job, and the effect the cost of retaining quality lawyers can have on the bottom line of a business or the bank account of an individual. As a result, we often naturally relate to clients in a person-to-person context, rather than that of attorney-client.

Respect for Our Clients' Individual Needs

While we value our accomplishments, it is our vast legal, business and personal experiences — combined with our talent, personalities and passion — that make Rosen & Winig, P.A. what it is today. We take great care in the manner in which we conduct ourselves every day, both in and out of the office. This holds true for every shareholder, associate attorney and other employee of the firm. We see clients not as "cases" or "deals," but as human beings with meaningful concerns that require us to be knowledgeable and thoughtful lawyers, yet business people who understand, and can distinguish between, the legal and practical aspects of a case or transaction. This has caused substantial numbers of clients to refer other clients to us, who refer still other clients to us, until "chains" of clients are created. Other professionals not only regularly entrust us with the affairs of their clients when they do not have the requisite expertise to properly represent them, they entrust us with their own affairs.

Every person at our firm is communicative, pro active and diligent. We usually correspond with a client before the client feels the need to correspond with us. We always make a concerted effort to do what is necessary to protect a client's interests, as opposed to that of the firm. While we are confident in our ability in courtrooms and in conference rooms, we often advise clients not to litigate a particular issue or engage in a certain transaction if we believe it is not in their best interest financially or emotionally. We realize this may affect the firm's profitability, but we know from experience that this creates personal and often long-standing relationships. We believe these relationships are rare in today's cutthroat legal and business worlds, and we pride ourselves on them. They are the cornerstone of our practice.

We regularly provide services on a pro bono basis (i.e., at no charge) in significant cases. We are currently representing a Property Owners Association in a case under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code. We recently represented a former owner of a failed business in a lawsuit against the United States of America, in an effort to absolve her from "responsible person" liability for unpaid withholding taxes.

We provide much more than a recitation of the law. Our clients know that we are genuinely concerned with their circumstances, regardless of the size or complexity of their particular matter or the issues involved. It is our sincere hope that we will continue to build upon this foundation with every new client that comes through our doors.
